A Synastry Chart (A Map of Intersecting Currents)
The word Synastry has the prefix syn (with) in conjunction with astry (star). This word is like the word consider meaning with (con) and stars (sidus) The whole point of Synastry is to help the persons involved in a relationship, whether to a child, sibling, a business partnership or intimate relationship, to develop and evolve in the most balanced fashion, through appreciating what both individually bring into the budding relationship. But in order for a Synastry discussion to occur the people involved should already know a lot about each other by being together. This may not easily happen between a five-year old and his or her dad or mom.
The overall naturalness of the relationship should not be intruded upon by considering the input of planets, signs, houses and aspects. It can create confusion if done prematurely or immaturely. Not everyone is equipped to look dispassionately at a chart. Its the people composing this special relationship that count, not the planets. These, of course, can add color and texture for understanding and yet it should not be applied in an a priori fashion. Experience and observation yields useful information, in an evolving loving connection. Astrology is the divine icing on the divine cake.
Analyzing Synastry, I prefer the word dynamic balance-equilibrium, which involves looking at the charts of the couple, always starts with each one’s natal chart. Because, each person’s “come from” where they’re coming from, is reflected in the natal chart and before a couple or partners in business decide to pursue a comprehension of their individual and united chart patterns, it is useful for each of them to realize that the chart is there as another way of understanding the energetic coherence or incoherence in the relationship. It should be included as integral wisdom bestowed for the flowering of the relationship.
Indeed, a couple may discover that their individual arcs-of-consciousness united with the other’s may be very challenging. They may decide, based on their charts, that they should not be together. Or the opposite may occur. The horoscope is only one factor among others are related to learning about oneself through karma, which may appear in the chart as high tension. Yet the highest tension wires contain the most energy. It is always up to the couple to decide whether coming together will aid them in learning about themselves and each other. The purpose of life is self-realization and the mastery of life’s energies; and so-called problems are like the jagged rocks that jut out on the sides of a hill or mountain. Without them how could people find their footing on the upward trek?
The couple is solely responsible for making a judgment about their union, after studying the information given, which is based on the chart factors.
